Story Corner
It’s summer 2016 and Allison Green, 35, is working as a home care worker in Massachusetts. Allison, like most home health care workers, takes care of her patient at his home without any supervision. One day, her patient looks at his credit card bills on a whim and realizes the numbers are off. Turns out, Allison Green had been charging her patient’s credit card for months without his knowledge or consent. Allison Green illegally used a client’s credit card for more than $12,000 in illegal personal purchases and it wasn’t the first time she was arrested for similar crimes.
This is a true story.
When asked, it was determined the home care agency never performed a background check which could have helped prevent this crime from happening.
What are the benefits of performing background check on my home care workers?
